Our containers come in different sizes because we understand our customers’ needs. The standard model is 20 foot but with increasing economies of scale and the need to ship greater volumes, we also offer 40 foot containers and 40 foot high cube units for those requiring a container that can hold large and bulky cargo. In contrast to standard container with a maximum height of 2591 mm (8'6"), high-cube containers are 2896 mm, or 9'6", tall. Our dry high cube dry containers means you will benefit from an extra foot in height compared with dry containers.
Using a 40 foot container offers a payload of around 20 tonnes and anything over the weight limit will incur surcharges so they tend to be used for lighter products and goods. Transmar 40-foot Dry Van (DV) containers can be used for general dry cargo such as cartons and boxes that are loaded on pallets or for materials such as clothing that is hung on hangers. December is the start of the citrus season in Egypt and we are now moving various citrus products from Egypt into the Arabian Gulf and Saudi Arabia using our 40 foot containers from our base port of Adabiya and through Jeddah and Dammam into Saudi Arabia. Some citrus products can be shipped in dry containers according to the customer’s requirements but at Transmar we can also offer 40 foot refrigerated (reefer) containers. Our refrigerated containers have built-in capacity to regulate different temperatures for fruits, vegetables or meats as well as chemicals that need a temperature-controlled environment.
