Our Containers

Transmar’s containers are used as a convenient way to ship goods that need to be handled by various modes of transport like vessels, trucks and rail cars. This type of interchange between carriers is called intermodal freight transport. The company’s liner ships that carry our containers generally run on regular route with a fixed schedule.

Transmar is keen to provide safe and reliable transport of all containerized cargo and follows all the requirements of the ISO as well as international regulatory safety standards and industry best practices.

There are several sizes of containers used to transport goods that range from 20-foot to 53-foot containers. 20-foot and 40-foot sizes are the typical standard sizes used across the shipping industry due to their ease of piling as well as their conformity with most standard shipping equipment handling methods, such as; ship cranes, port cranes, trucks and rail cars.

We operate both the 20-foot containers; known as a TEU (20-foot equivalent unit) as well as the 40-foot containers; known as a FEU (40-foot equivalent unit). Once cargo is placed in our container, the container is sealed, locked and is not opened until it reaches its destination.

Dry Cargo

Our 20-foot and 40-foot Dry Van (DV) containers are typically used for general dry cargo such as cartons and boxes that are loaded on pallets or for materials such as clothing that is hung on hangers. We also have 40-foot (HC) containers that are a foot higher than the standard 40-foot container which can be used for more bulky types of cargo that have extra volume.

Refrigerated Cargo

Our refrigerated containers have built-in capacity to regulate different temperatures. Our 40-foot reefer containers can carry a wide variety of refrigerated cargo, for instance, fruits, vegetables or meats as well as chemicals that need a temperature-controlled environment.
